Preparing Visual Materials

Use visual material whenever possible.

Transmit color images from the following:

  • 35 mm slides using a slide-to-video converter.
  • Overhead transparencies using a document camera.
  • Opaque hard copies of presentation handouts using a document camera.
  • Videotape footage using a Videocassette Recorder.
  • Computer Graphics using a computer-to-video converter.
  • Data on a whiteboard.

Use a bold 24-pt (or larger!) font/typeface when preparing visuals .

Use the landscape (horizontal) format.

Use only 2/3 of an 81/2" by 11" page.

Use bar and pie charts communicate information more quickly; they are the preferred presentation format.

TEST YOUR DOCUMENT:
Put the document on the floor in front of you and look down at it from a standing position. If you can read your work clearly, it will most likely work in the videoconference room.
